Abstract:
In recent years, the compact controlled nuclear fusion industry has attracted widespread attention from governments and social capital worldwide, emerging as a key focus of future energy industry. As the crucial components of fusion devices, high-temperature superconducting magnets have witnessed rapid technological advancements. The Shanghai Municipal Government has long supported the development of the high-temperature superconducting industry, establishing a comprehensive industrial chain encompassing superconducting materials, magnets, and cooling systems, thereby securing an advantageous position nationwide. This paper reviews current progress in high-temperature superconducting magnet technologies, along with associated intellectual property landscapes and standardization initiatives. It documents critical scientific breakthroughs and engineering applications achieved by Shanghai-based institutions, while proposing recommendations to address current challenges and guide future advancements in the field.
