Effect of Rare Earth Neodymium on the Performances of Low Temperature Iron Plating

  • In order to improve the comprehensive properties of low-temperature iron plating, NdCl3 was added to the ferrous chloride plating solution to study the effects of different content of neodymium bath on deposition rate, cathode current efficiency, themicro-hardness, surface morphology and the adhesion of iron plating. The results show that the addition of rare earth neodymium to the low temperature ferrous chloride plating solution improves the iron deposition rate and cathode current efficiency. The oxidation resistance and stability of the plating solution are also increased. A certain amount of Nd3+ can smooth the coating, refine the grain size, and improve the micro-hardness and corrosion resistance of the coating.
