Abstract
Hemerocallis fulva is a traditional Chinese “mother flower”. The perceptual image of Hemerocallis pattern plays an important role in its pattern design. Semantic difference method was used to analyze the perceptual image of Hemerocallis pattern, and factor analysis method was used to extract the perceptual component factors of the perceived image, and analyze the characteristics of the representative samples corresponding to each factor, the image matching degree and priority of the design elements. The results showed that the perceptual images of Hemerocallis patterns generally had gorgeous colors, single elements, full composition, dynamic rhythm, simple structure, soft lines, sparse layout and concrete form. To attain the image of “gorgeousness, fullness and softness”, the design elements were prioritized as composition > lines > elements; The images of being “single, dynamic and concrete” were expressed through the relatively realistic Hemerocallis patterns of the visual center and different composition methods. The design elements were prioritized as lines > elements > composition. It is suggested that people's perceptual preferences be considered in the research on Hemerocallis pattern focusing on the fullness, softness and dynamics of Hemerocallis patterns in the future, which provides a reliable basis for original design of Hemerocallis patterns and initiates more active explorations of the innovative development of traditional plant patterns.
