The impact of pollutants in water on the olfactory sense of fish: a bibliometric analysis

  • In recent years, a substantial body of pollutants in aquatic ecological environments have exerted severe impacts on organisms through bioaccumulation, with significant attention focused on their effects on olfactory function in fish. Bibliometric methods were employed to analyze core authors, leading research countries, research hotspots, research progress, and evolutionary trends within the field of environmental pollutant impacts on fish olfaction. The results indicated that stable collaborative networks among core authors, key journals, and nations have not yet fully emerged in this field. Methodologically, olfactory-mediated behavioral assays demonstrate considerable potential for application, although related research remains relatively scarce. Further in-depth exploration is required to elucidate the toxicological mechanisms of pollutants such as heavy metals and pesticides, which holds great potential for future research and development.
